Both concentration tracks (Accounting and Bookkeeping) will prepare students for meeting the high-demand of the current industry structure while equipping them with a keen eye for detail and superior application methods in real world situations.

Accounting Degrees & Certificates
The Accounting program at North Central Texas College is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills directly applicable to a career in accounting. The program is also designed to provide quality workforce education to students seeking to qualify themselves for positions in the accounting industry.
Classes focus on the specific needs of the student by preparing them for work in a large or small business. The student can choose between two concentrations within the AAS program. The first is the accounting technician or bookkeeper and is tailored for the small business environment. The second is the staff accountant and places focus on large corporate accounting.
Students may pursue an OSA, a certificate or an AAS in Accounting. All courses in the certificate apply towards the AAS with the accounting technician concentration.
Bookkeeping OSA
Occupational Skills Award (OSA) in bookkeeping is designed to prepare students with the skills needed to obtain the QuickBooks Online certification, acquire basic accounting and bookkeeping knowledge, and use accounting software.
Accounting Technician Certificate
This certificate can be completed totally online. The program is designed to take two semesters, or 32 weeks, to complete.
Bookkeeping Certificate
This certificate can be completed totally online. The program is designed to take one semesters, or 16 weeks, to complete.
Accounting AAS (Staff Accountant Concentration)
The degree can be completed totally online. The program is designed to take two years to complete.
Accounting AAS (Accounting Technician Concentration)
The degree can be completed totally online. The program is designed to take two years to complete.

Bookkeepers compute, quantify and record clerical data used to complete a company’s financial records. By utilizing various programs as well as manual calculations, bookkeepers guarantee the correctness of financial entries and proper coding.
