Hello, World!
What to Expect
At formal occasions, most of us would like to avoid chaos. And the Commencement Ceremonies can change dramatically depending on the semester, number of graduates, number of degree/certificate programs, and location.
So to ensure the ceremonies go as smoothly as possible, we want to impart to you what you can expect on and around that day and what we expect of you. We’ll also give you a few resources for your graduation regalia, diplomas, and photography.

When you line up before the Commencement Ceremony, you’ll be given a name card. Please make sure your name reads the way you want it announced. If your name is often mispronounced, you’re encouraged to write it phonetically (i.e. spell it just like it sounds).
-
If you’re participating in the commencement ceremony, you must have appropriate regalia (i.e. cap, gown, tassel, etc.). You may NOT walk without proper regalia.
As a token of appreciation for your hard work and dedication, NCTC would be honored to purchase your graduation regalia for the ceremony. Regalia is required to participate in the ceremony. The order will include your cap, gown, and tassel. The students will only be responsible for the shipping and handling. You will choose “Domestic Shipping” and it is $15.95 plus tax; which will total $17.27.
-
Your graduation regalia can be ordered at PTK.org or through any PTK advisor.

Before the ceremony, one line will be formed alphabetically according to major. Marshals will assist in leading you single file to be seated. You’ll be asked to continue to the last chair in the row and remain standing until all graduates have entered.
After the ceremony starts, graduates will be asked by the marshals to stand by rows and walk to the stage. Just before you cross the stage, you’ll give the card to the announcer, walk across the stage, accept your diploma tube with the left hand, and shake with the right hand.
