Classroom Presentations

Do you feel your whole class could benefit from information on Learning Styles, Time Management, Motivation, or Overcoming Test Anxiety? Then invite the Completion Center staff into your classroom for a presentation on one of these or other related topics.


Presentation Request Form

Please submit a form for each class presentation request (multiple days should have multiple form submissions). Please submit request at least 5 business days prior to presentation date.

Faculty Student Mentor Program

Are you a faculty member who is looking to connect and empower students outside of the classroom? The Completion Center offers one-on-one mentoring for students provided by faculty and staff! Faculty who are interested in being a mentor can complete the online training to be matched with a student. 

The NCTC Mentor Program: 

  • Supports students’ individual academic, career, and/or personal development

  • Builds connection that supports overall success

  • Matched with a faculty member based on common interests, experiences, or academic/career goals

Student Engagement Tool-Kit

This is a resource for faculty and staff that includes student success and student engagement activities, information resources, structured intervention, and evidence–based instructional strategies to increase student success.

  • Tool-Kit resources include: note-taking and reading comprehension skills, test-taking and study strategies, and the use of learning style and learning strategies.

  • The Tool-Kit shows how to incorporate these elements into the current course content with specific assignments, assessments, and learner-centered teaching strategies (i.e. Flipped Classroom and Peer-Instruction methods).

  • Structured support elements include: academic advising model, course sequencing, and educational planning

Demonstration videos include a time-management classroom activity, an in-depth advising session, and the development of a student’s educational portfolio.

Test-Taking Strategies

Test-Taking Strategies shows skills and strategies that can be utilized to increase students’ test scores and overall course success. This tool demonstrates learned student success strategies including theories and practices, focuses on test-taking strategies, and reducing test anxiety. Specific lessons and activities can be embedded into course content to improve student success.

Note-Taking Strategies

Effective note-taking strategies will be demonstrated to show the importance of organization, comprehension, and retention of course material. Specific activities and lessons can be embedded into course content to improve success.

Learning Styles & Strategies

Learning Style Strategies propose that learning style identification and assessment will be achieved through identifying the student’s unique approach to learning based on strengths, weaknesses, and preferences.

Integrated Course Design

Participants of this interactive toolkit will be able to effectively embed contextual skills into a gateway or core curriculum course to improve student engagement and overall student success. Techniques and application are provided for hands-on activities, and specific teaching strategies that can be adjusted to fit most core curriculum courses. Short module videos, created by faculty, address integrated course design, and teaching strategies that can enhance student engagement and learning, along with embedding key academic behaviors and contextual skills.
