Gainesville native and author of God Intended Your Family to be Healthy, Dr. Jami West began her higher education journey at NCTC.

"Not only did attending NCTC change the trajectory of my life, but it changed the lives of other students I mentored," says Tapia.

“I’ve always been interested in men’s grooming and think it will be really beneficial to have this extra training for my career development,” says Kniss, who’s currently employed as a hair stylist at a Gainesville location of Great Clips.

After spending close to two decades working in advertising in Dallas, NCTC alumna Lesley Brooks says she was “fed up and burnt out” – and “then the stars opened up.”

He spent another four years working in oil fields in Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Texas as a drilling fluids technician. However, the military veteran says he always had his career sights set on his first love: Cosmetology.

A familiar face on NCTC’s Gainesville campus, Franklin Haskins has worked in the financial aid office for 12 years, attending a class or two in the evenings and being a single parent to his now 16-year-old son.

Yillah has a long history of working hard to support his family in Africa, and that didn’t change when he enrolled in the LVN program.

The goal is to be involved with disaster relief and be deployed to areas around the country when disasters happen.

During my time attending NCTC, I was working full time and attending full time. Balancing working and going to school, this was my intro into the real world.

The professors were more than just there to teach a class. They helped me grow professionally, and they also are great mentors.
