Helpful Tips
This application is used for both General & Dual Credit applicants.
Before you begin, below are some helpful tips to review prior to completing the scholarship application. The application will ask you to enter information about yourself that will be used to match you to eligible scholarships. It is important that you answer every question completely.
Keep Your Information Current with NCTC
The online application uses information from your admission form. It is important you keep your address and major updated with NCTC to ensure you are considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible. Complete the Records Maintenance Form and submit to Admissions/Registrar’s Office for changes.Transcripts
If you do not have an NCTC GPA, please submit an official high school or college transcript to the NCTC Admissions Office. This will apply to first semester and future students applying for a scholarship. You may also upload an unofficial transcript or GED test scores to the scholarship application. This is recommended if submitting a transcript close to the deadline due to time constraints. You will see Add a New File and click on this in your application to upload the file. Scholarship applications cannot be sent to reviewers without a GPA.Recommendation Requests
Please request up to 3 recommendations from individuals who know you academically or professionally. You should notify the individuals to expect an email from us. You are responsible for ensuring your reference provider completes this request. This is optional for the General Application but extremely helpful to the Review Committee. Your reference will be sent an automated email at the email address you provide asking them to provide a recommendation by logging into the online application system as a reference and answering some questions.Personal Essay
You will also be required to submit a personal essay that addresses your educational and career plans and how NCTC can help you achieve them. Please also include any extenuating or unusual circumstances you want the committee to consider. You can type your personal statement directly into the text box in the application, or you can cut and paste your personal essay into the box. The scholarship review committee will not meet you in person so this is your chance to let them know who you are beyond the answers you have provided on your application.Add Another Answer
You will see this under institutional information and recommendation requests within the application. By clicking on this, the system will allow you to add up to 3 institutions you have attended and/or request for recommendations.Save and Keep Editing
You can save your application at any time by clicking Save and Keep Editing at the bottom of the form.Finish and Submit
You can Submit your application once the required fields are completed.Update Your Application
Reviews do not begin until after the deadline date. If you need to make changes, you can update your application by making the changes and then click Update Your Application to save the changes. The deadline date for changes to be made is April 15th and October 15th.Complete the Entire Application
Every question you answer increases your chance of getting a scholarship. Some questions are applicable to specific scholarships.Proofread, Revise, and Check Your Answers
Remember that spelling, grammar, and punctuation are considered when scholarship applications are evaluated.
