Student Organizations at NCTC

You’re welcome to join student groups like Honors Societies and Student Organizations or you can start your own!

 Students that are in student groups improve their leadership skills, meet other students with similar interests, and graduate more often compared to students that are not involved.

 Honors Societies

 

Joining honors societies are great opportunities for students to boost their resume, scholarship applications as well as their personal and professional skills. NCTC has four honors societies.

La Sociedad Honoraria de la Lengua Español — Corinth

SHLE is a Spanish honors society that seeks to recognize excellence in the study of Spanish as well as promote understanding and friendship between English and Spanish speakers.

Lambda Nu (LN) — Gainesville

Lambda Nu (LN) is a national honors society for the radiologic and imaging sciences.

National Society of Leadership and Success — All Campuses

The nation's largest leadership honors society, where top students nominated by their colleges come together to identify and achieve their goals.

Phi Theta Kapa — All Campuses

To recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Student Organizations

Below are student-led organizations that are looking for new members this academic year. Learn more about each of them and to find contact information. If none of the student organizations sound fun or interest you, you may form your own by following the steps outlined below and filling out the form.

  • The purpose of Black Student Union is to create an environment where all NCTC students of African descent as well as others can join a community and be understood. Within the confines of the community our goal is to exchange resourceful information, and raise awareness on topics including but not limited to health, academics, social issues, political awareness and culture.

    Our goal as a union is to uplift, empower, support, and bring out the best in our members. We want to be proactive on our campus and in our communities, in hopes of helping these places become more diverse and aware of the world we live in.

  • The purpose of The D20 Club is to promote interest in and represent D&D players within NCTC.

  • To create a time for students on the Gainesville campus to gather together to discover the person of God through studying the word of God to find our ultimate satisfaction in Him.

  • The purpose of the Latinx Student Association is to bring together all students who want to build a strong community and presence at NCTC for Hispanic and Latinx identifying students.

  • Lions for Christ exist to help each other pursue a personal relationship with Christ by providing a safe and judgement free community for students to talk about God's word as we share God's love and serve others.

  • Lions in Leadership is dedicated to promoting student leadership development within NCTC.

  • Pride Alliance fosters student engagement, inclusion, and equality among lgbtq+ students and allies. We seek to offer connection, resources, mentorship, and advocacy opportunities for our lgbtq+ students and allies. As George Takei once said, "We should indeed keep calm in the face of difference, and live our lives in a state of inclusion and wonder at the diversity of humanity."

  • Our mission is to help members of our community live happier, healthier lives, by promoting mental health.

  • To enrich and educate those who are passionate about science and STEM fields through fellowship, service, and scholarly discussion in a fun, safe environment. To view and better our world with science.

    Meets Tuesdays at 4pm in room 204 at the Flower Mound campus.

  • To give students an input and voice to suggest activities, programs and possible improvements to NCTC in general, foster a spirit of cooperation between all NCTC employees and the student body, to assist and support the activities and projects of student organizations for the benefit of the entire Student Body, to provide the students a network of communication and leadership to represent and protect the interest of all students and the organizations represented, and to provide a visible student leadership presence at NCTC.

  • To provide outstanding education for nursing students by supporting in the advancement of the individual. The ideal instills a high level of integrity among students in their dealings with society as they strive for excellence in all endeavors.

  • The purpose of the Surgical Technology Student Association is to promote the Surgical Technologist profession.

  • At NCTC, we recognize unique student needs and are dedicated to lifting up our students facing challenges on multiple levels. If you identify with one or more of these Affinity Groups, we are here to guide and help you navigate circumstances to successfully reach your goals.

 Starting a Student Organization

  1. Find a college employee to be the advisor and seven students interested in the club.

  2. Hold a meeting to vote on a constitution, elect officers, and plan further dates to meet.

  3. Submit a Constitution, Student Organization Application, and an Activity Approval Form to studentlife@nctc.edu.

    • Here is a sample constitution that can be downloaded as a base to your new constitution, all you need to do is make the appropriate changes.

    • The first Activity Approval form should contain all of the student organization's meeting dates, time, and location. An activity approval form will need to be filled out for each activity (fundraiser, events, etc.) the organization is planning. Should you need help with an event contact the employee listed on the form.
